Peachtree City's jobless rate rose to 3.1% in September from 2.8% a year earlier, though 327 more residents had jobs. Fayette County and Georgia were 3.5%.

Peachtree City’s unemployment rate was 3.1% in September, up from 2.8% in September 2025. The city still added jobs. About 327 more residents were working than a year earlier.

The rate rose because the labor force grew faster than the number of people in work. About 403 more residents were working or looking for work, and 76 more were unemployed.

The figures are the preliminary September estimates from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Local Area Unemployment Statistics program. The BLS publishes a separate rate for Peachtree City, not only for Fayette County. The figures are not seasonally adjusted, so the fair comparison is with the same month a year earlier.

The numbers behind the rate

In Peachtree City in September, according to the BLS:

  • 19,364 people were in the labor force, up from 18,961 a year earlier.
  • 18,757 people had jobs, up from 18,430.
  • 607 people were unemployed, up from 531.

The labor force counts people who have a job or are looking for one. The unemployment rate is the share of the labor force without a job and looking for one. These are counts of Peachtree City residents, wherever they work. They are not counts of the jobs in the city’s industrial park or stores.

Across Fayette County, 58,384 residents had jobs and 2,123 were unemployed in September, out of a labor force of 60,507. A year earlier, 57,366 had jobs and 1,979 were unemployed.
