Trunk-or-treats

Trunk-or-treats, where families hand out candy from decorated car trunks in a church or school parking lot, are a fixture of Halloween in the South. As of Oct. 6 we had not found a 2026 trunk-or-treat in Peachtree City posted on an organizer’s own page. We add them as they are announced. Organizers can send us the details: date, time, address and a link.

Halloween weekend traffic

The Air Dot Show Atlanta fills Atlanta Regional Airport, Falcon Field, on Oct. 31 and Nov. 1, with gates at 9 a.m. and flying from noon to about 4 p.m. Plan for show traffic around the airport on Halloween afternoon. Details: air show guide.

Safety

The American Academy of Pediatrics publishes Halloween safety tips for parents. Among them:

  • Choose bright, reflective costumes, and add reflective tape to costumes and treat bags. Look for “flame resistant” on costume, wig and accessory labels.
  • Use nontoxic makeup and hats instead of masks that block vision, and test makeup on a small patch of skin first.
  • Older children should go in a group, with an agreed route and a time to be home, and everyone should carry a flashlight after dark.
  • Cross as a group at crosswalks, never between parked cars, and walk facing traffic where there is no sidewalk. Visit only homes with a porch light on.
  • Use a flameless candle or glow stick in jack-o’-lanterns, and sweep wet leaves off steps.
  • Children with food allergies should carry their prescribed emergency medicine.

Drivers: slow down in neighborhoods, especially near driveways and parked cars. Young trick-or-treaters are hard to see in the dark.

What this means for you

  • There are no official hours; plan your own, and leave porch lights on if you are handing out candy.
  • The Avenue’s trick-or-treat is Friday, Oct. 30, the night before Halloween.
  • Allow extra time on Saturday afternoon because of the air show.
