The Blue Angels are set to fly about 2:30 p.m. each air show day, city notes show. Lake park and Aviation Drive closed, police shifts unfilled, State Patrol act cut.

The U.S. Navy Blue Angels are scheduled to fly at about 2:30 p.m. on each day of this weekend’s air show at Atlanta Regional Airport, Falcon Field. Their set should be over by about 3:30 p.m., and the parking lots should be clear by 5 p.m.

Those times come from the city’s planning notes for the show. They are recorded in the minutes of the Oct. 20 Special Events Team meeting, which the team approved Oct. 27. The team is the city staff group that signs off on events, with police, recreation, code enforcement and the health department at the table.

Air Dot Show Atlanta is open to the public Saturday, Oct. 31, and Sunday, Nov. 1. Friday is a private show day for eligible 2025 ticket holders, according to the organizer’s FAQ. Gates open at 9 a.m. on the public days, and the flying runs from noon to about 4 p.m., the organizer says.

What closes, and when

The minutes record these arrangements for the show:

  • The park and lake next to the airport are closed Thursday through Sunday, with the approval of the Fayette County Water Commission. The minutes do not name the park. Lake McIntosh Park, at 3501 TDK Blvd., is the county park on the water system’s lake by the airport.
  • A golf course is closed. The minutes do not name it.
  • Aviation Drive closes, “as usual,” the minutes say.
  • Barricades went up Thursday morning.
  • After the show on Saturday and Sunday, traffic leaving the lots uses the same crossover pattern as in past years.
  • Two electronic message boards are being placed to guide drivers.

Setup started Oct. 27. Crews take the site down from 7 a.m. Monday, Nov. 2, and a street sweeper is booked for Monday, the minutes say.

The Blue Angels’ set

The minutes say the Blue Angels will fly their jets only, a set of about 45 minutes. Fat Albert, the team’s C-130 support plane, is not flying. The team leaves straight after Sunday’s show.

Other acts listed in the minutes include:

  • the F-16 Viper Demo Team, with a P-51 heritage flight
  • the C-17 demo team
  • Mike Goulian’s aerobatics
  • a Cybertruck racing a plane
  • P-51 and P-63 fighters from Air Base Georgia, a late addition
  • Army Huey Cobra helicopters, flying a demo and giving rides
  • the Full Throttle Formation team, the Rematch Skydiving Team and Rooster Air Shows
  • a U.S. Air Force band on stage

The Georgia State Patrol helicopter demo is canceled. The minutes put that down to the G20 summit in Atlanta and the Florida-Georgia football game, both the same weekend and both drawing state resources. A Lifeline helicopter is the Blue Angels’ backup. The organizer’s performer page still listed the State Patrol on Friday morning.

Police shifts still open

As of the Oct. 20 meeting, the Police Department was still short of officers for the show’s extra-duty shifts. The minutes listed the gaps:

Day Morning Afternoon
Friday, Oct. 30 7 7
Saturday, Oct. 31 2 5
Sunday, Nov. 1 5 6

Surrounding agencies had been asked and were short-staffed too, the minutes say. Officers for the Planterra area were cut from four to two. Staff proposed raising extra-duty pay to $75 an hour to attract officers. The same minutes show the current rate for a 5K in December is $50 an hour. The minutes do not say whether the raise was approved.

The organizer told the city to expect about 7,000 spectators.

What it means for you

  • If you have a ticket: parking is included and there is no re-entry, the organizer says. Our air show guide has the ticket prices, the bag rules and what to bring.
  • If you live near the airport: expect jet noise mostly between noon and 4 p.m., with the loudest set at about 2:30 p.m. Expect heavier traffic on the roads around Falcon Field from 8 a.m., when the lots open, and again as the show ends.
  • If you planned a walk or a boat trip at Lake McIntosh: go another weekend. Fayette County Parks and Recreation can confirm when the park reopens.
  • Saturday is Halloween. Traffic leaving the show will overlap with early trick-or-treating. See our Halloween events guide and getting around Peachtree City for routes.

The city had posted no traffic notice for the show on its news page by Friday morning.
