Teachers from 13 schools that serve Peachtree City are in the running for 2027 Fayette County Teacher of the Year. They are among 25 school-level winners named by Fayette County Public Schools.

The district announced the nominees Friday. Each one was chosen by fellow teachers in a vote at their own school, the district said.

How the county winner is picked

Every nominee now writes an essay-style application about their teaching style, goals and classroom work, according to the district. The winner is announced at the annual Fayette County Teacher of the Year ceremony. The district has not yet given a date for it.

Last year’s cycle shows how it runs. Three finalists were named from the 25. Matt Foley of Fayette County High was named 2026 Fayette County Teacher of the Year at the ceremony on April 16. One of the other two finalists was Erin Keith of Kedron Elementary in Peachtree City.
