Outdoors
- The shared-use paths. More than 100 miles of paths for walking, biking and golf carts connect neighborhoods, shops, schools, parks and lakes, the city says. Pick up a route on the city’s interactive path map. Our walking and biking trails guide has loops and parking.
- Line Creek Nature Area, Line Creek Drive off Highway 54: 70 acres, almost three miles of trails, granite outcrops, native azaleas, a fishing dock and a gazebo.
- Flat Creek Nature Area, from the McIntosh Trail Recreation Complex: a boardwalk through wetlands, good for birdwatching.
- Somerby Woods Nature Area, 300 Rockaway Road: a quiet 0.7-mile trail with a pond.
- J.K. “Chip” Conner Island, reached by footbridge from the path south of Battery Way Park, 110 Battery Way: a walking trail and lake views.
- Huddleston Pond, Windgate Road at Bridalpath Lane: a lighted 0.4-mile loop around the pond, with fitness equipment and a playground.
